Also known as Flood and Drain, these systems are very easy to use once set up. They consist of a tray, tank, pump and fittings. The tray holds the plants, the growing medium, and the nutrient solution. The pump is used to periodically feed the plants with nutrient enriched water from a tank underneath, soaking the roots and pushing the carbon dioxide air out from around the root system. After flooding it is then allowed to drain away creating high oxygen levels in the root zone.
